Tips for Librarians Running Libraries Alone is a excellent resource for small libraries of all types. Readers will find practical advice that will help them in managing their libraries.
I work with small public libraries in twelve different counties and I recommend this title to the people working in those libraries.

Carol Smallwood has edited another stellar anthology; this time providing much-needed guidance to solo librarians. With public library budgets at an all-time low, solo librarians may be on the rise. Through this anthology, the basics of library administration are adapted to the solo situation. Standout contributions include "Solo Librarians as Jugglers" by Roxanne Myers Spencer and "Security Tips for the Solo Librarian" by Jonathan Frater.

Now more than ever, librarians must be able to augment their technical library abilities with a whole array of skills including time management, marketing and public relations, community involvement, and administrative efficiency. "How to Thrive as a Solo Librarian", a compilation of chapters written by experts sharing their advice on these and other useful topics, is an excellent resource for any librarian working alone or coping with increased responsibilities/decreased resources in these challenging times.
